Detailed Vendor Payment Tracking

4.3
What do you like?

It's thorough: offers payroll with direct deposit, credit card processing, reports, etc. Compatibility with other softwares because it's the most recognized name in accounting software.

What do you dislike?

Frequently down. Can't access payroll information or direct deposits processed on time didn't process or system maintenance prevents functionality during business hours. The BIGGEST problem with QBO is their complete lack of tech support - it simply doesn't exist. There's no number for quick help, and their chat is staffed with people who struggle so badly to understand the most basic explanation of a problem. You'll waste an hour just helping their chat staff to understand, and by the end of that hour you're so frustrated you want to quit the service (like me). I would pay 3x what I pay if I could have good support. Instead, we're shopping alternatives.

What problems is it solving?

Solving? None. It's filling a need by providing everything we need for invoicing, links to banking and credit cards, payroll with direct deposit, A/R, A/P, contractor setup/PO's/payments, etc. However, when they're down for maintenance (or other issues) midday it's not helpful.

Seamless Multi-User Collaboration

What do you like?

It's user friendly pretty much and the help menu always answers any questions I might have. I can usually find my answers there.

What do you dislike?

When calling, there's always a long wait.

What problems is it solving?

We use a lot of progressive billing and it keeps up with my balances.

Efficient Purchase Order Management

4.1
What do you like?

It gets the job done. It's nice that you can have customers pay you directly through QBO. I like that it can work alongside other apps to push and pull content.

What do you dislike?

My most significant pain point with QBO is the permissions. We create 'projects,' and the Project Managers cannot see the expenses on the projects they manage. A setting turns off their ability to see the companies check registers/accounting (which makes sense) but that doesn't necessarily mean they can't see expenses for managing jobs. It's a huge flaw, in my opinion. Only Admins can see the expenses and run reports to see if the job was profitable. I (and others) have reported this issue for years, and they still haven't fix this. The bugs. The custom templates have a bug that hasn't been fixed in years. They randomly have updates, but there are usually new bugs that arise that you don't know about until you find them. The IT support is hit or miss.

What problems is it solving?

Just the general accounting problems and reporting. I like the custom and automated report options. Also, the ability to push and pull content to and from other apps (Quickbooks Time) is nice.

Reliable Audit Trail and Data History

What do you like?

Nothing. I couldn't even make one invoice in self-employed. Customer service spent more time looking up my account than actually answering my question, which they never answered. Extremely disappointing.

What do you dislike?

You cannot add or edit your company name on an invoice. The invoice literally says "No company name". I can't send it to clients like that. I tried to add a company name through entering it in 'first name' and 'last name' but that didn't work. Then I tried following the QuickBooks online forum but "Edit work info" button wasn't an option. Then I reached out to customer service but he took 10 minutes to pull up my account then just kept telling me to "hang tight while he pulled up my account". Umm, this isn't a complex issue. I just want to access the BASIC feature of putting my company name on an invoice. I have never had such hassle with a basic feature. I signed up for Freshbooks and it was SO EASY to create an invoice. I asked QuickBooks for a refund but they responded that the fact you can't actually use the software isn't grounds for a refund, haha. That just proves my point about customer service (and I asked for a refund the same day I bought the service, and they can clearly see I didn't use it since no invoices were sent). Horrible product and horrible service.

What problems is it solving?

It is not solving any problems. Couldn't even create a simple invoice. Useless service.

Easy Integration with Third-party Apps

3.2
What do you like?

I can access QBO from anywhere as long as I have an internet connection. I travel for business, but am never out of touch with my accounting system. This feature makes QBO much better than the standard desktop/server option. My CPA also has direct access to my QBO account whenever he needs it. The process is much more seamless than the desktop/server option.

What do you dislike?

QBO lacks many features that are available in the enterprise version I ran several years ago. I miss being able to completely customize purchase orders and invoices. We now have to settle for the forms provided by QBO with minimal ability to modify. Frankly, the POs and Invoices do not look good. Also, the available reports and ability to manipulate the reports was much more comprehensive in the desktop version. I used reports on open and all purchase orders on desktop. The reports in QBO don't meet the other standard. I also hate paying a monthly fee for QBO. I'm paying $80 per month. That adds up quickly. Previously we purchased a new copy of QB enterprise every few years and were done with the expense.

What problems is it solving?

We handle all our accounting functions on QBO. The ability to work remotely means that project managers can input costs in real time instead of waiting weeks to return to the office. This gives us a much clearer picture of our financial status.

User-Friendly Customer Onboarding Process

3.6
What do you like?

The awful experience I have had over the past three months with Quickbooks Customer Support has wholly negated any potential upsides for working with Quickbooks.

What do you dislike?

I have owned a small contracting business using Quickbooks for several years. I recently decided to set up Quickbooks Payments to allow my customers to pay their invoices via credit card. There was a processing fee that came with each transaction, but I decided that the convenience of quick payment was worth the cost. I was utterly mistaken. The first credit card payment made to my business was processed in a reasonable timeline. The second payment, made a few days later, was held up by Quickbooks for review. They requested additional information be sent to them (bank statements) to verify my account. This request was completed within a day. Since that point nearly three months ago, I have called Quickbooks on four separate occasions to get some explanation as to why my payment was being withheld. Every conversation I had with their service team took over an hour. No one could give me an actual explanation, but they always guaranteed me that the payment would be released within two business days. It has been almost three months, and I still have not received payment or an explanation. The lack of communication, direction, and, most importantly, the payment has caused me to lose all faith in Quickbooks. These actions are causing my company to be on the brink of dissolving. Please, take my advice and avoid Quickbooks at all costs. Regretfully, A disappointed business owner.

What problems is it solving?

None.

What do you like?

Ease of use and readily available customer support

What do you dislike?

We do not dislike anything now. But before we did a short course on it we were confused.

What problems is it solving?

It helps us bring in all expenses directly from the bank, and keeping our books clean is much easier while using this program. We can just scan the receipts, and they automatically get matched with the expenses. We can track all invoices, bills, and project progress in financial category.
